Post of the Day

List a new idea or concept you've learned about your game topic since you started this course. How did you come to learn this? What sources were helpful to you in gaining this understanding?

I don't know that I really learned anything new about my topic. My topic is pollution, and all the science classes covered it at some point or another. Therefore, I already knew the concept of littering, etc. The sources I found helpful in refining the ideas I already had were mainly places like recycling centers, pollution readings, go green websites, etc.

Assigned Blog 1-3-11 (blog 2)

2. Do you plan on taking Game Design II next year? If so, what kind of game do you plan on designing? What can you do between now and next year to improve your knowledge for flash? If you are graduating or not planning on taking Game Design II, how has this class helped you in understanding how games are made and how much work goes into game design?

     - I refuse to take Game Design II next year. This class made me realize that it isn't as easy as it looks to make a game. I didn't know that each movement, each component of the game requires coding and planning. It's a lot harder than I thought.

1. Did you get any new games over the holidays? If so, what games did you get and how many hours did you play? How does this game compare to your game design?
     - I didn't get any new games over break. I did however play a game I already had for so many hours I lost count. It was good,  and it doesnt compare to our game design at all.

Assigned Post Ditto

Write blog about game demo. - Doing it.
How did it turn out or how is it working out?- It's ok I guess, I don't really like it. At all.
How much work did each partner put into the demo. - Originally we each did half. But, me being the control freak I am, I redid everything Paige did when she was absent. I like it better now.
How did the game demo turn out compared to others in your class? - umm, idk. I haven't looked at theirs considering that I've been busy on my own.
Will you get your game completed before the end of the semester? - Nope. Probably not. I don't understand how to do it. I'm so confused. I have barely started, and I've tried everything to understand and I don't...So. No.

Assigned Blog

What is your favorite online game? - Perfect World
Describe the game. - The game is really awesome with alot of stuff to do.
How does it compare to the game you are designing? - Perfect World is way better. My game could never compare, because the school made us make educational games and it is limiting.
How much time did you put into playing video games over Thanksgiving break? - I spent a lot of time playing games. You don't want to know.

Was it hard to make your mini game? What was the best part of this topic? The worst part?

The actual mini game wasn't hard to make. The only issues I had was coding problems; i.e. the codes not working properly. The best part of it was that I actually got it to work and learned some of the basics, and the worst was that none of the instructions actually explained what the codes mean. It would've made coding a lot easier if I knew what the various symbols stand for.
